藝術總監胡海輝與戲劇文學指導鄭廸琪遠赴澳洲阿德萊德、墨爾本及悉尼，走訪當地藝術家，了解紀錄劇場發展。
The artistic director Mr Hoi-fai Wu and the dramaturg Ms Tik-ki Cheang visited Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney in December 2018, conducting in-depth study trip on the development of documentary theatre in Australia.

英國紀錄劇場在九十年代重新興起，近年蔚然成風，由專業至新進的紀錄劇場創作不斷，甚至滲透其他界別，例如著名形體／舞蹈劇團DV8，近年也有採取這手法。德國是當代紀錄劇場的發源地，數十年持續發展下，近年不同藝術家湧現，各有獨特的風格取向。
一條褲製作藝術總監胡海輝及戲劇文學顧問賴閃芳走訪英德兩地，實地考察兩地的紀錄劇場發展，與當地的藝術工作者進行對談，於網上介紹造訪的劇團及藝術家，讓觀眾參與紀錄劇場節前作熱身。考察完結後，兩位將會回港作整理，發表考察成果。
Documentary theatre in British theatre has rooted, mostly unacknowledged, in the regional theatre in the 80s. Artists found its attraction in the 90s, it gained tremendous focus after 2000. From amateur to professional theatre groups, for example, DV8, a lot more artists, who are not solely theatre practitioners, devote themselves into the documentary theatre. Germany is the birthplace of documentary theatre, thanks to the effort from Weiss, Brecht and Piscator, it has rooted deeply in German theatre since the 1930s, and evolves in diverse forms and content nowadays.
The artistic director Mr Hoi-fai Wu and the dramaturg Ms Sim-fong Lai will visit London and Berlin in May, conducting in-depth study trip on the new development of documentary theatre. Apart from seeing recent productions, they will meet with scholars and artists. Their discussion will be filmed, together with the show reviews plus the most update information about the artists and theatre groups, a web page archive of the documentary theatre will be set up for public research. Besides, Mr Wu and Ms Lai will share their learning in the conference in July.
研習週 Documentary Theatre Week
一條褲製作於7月舉行本港首次紀錄劇場研習周，透過多個活動讓參加者窺探紀錄劇場的發展。一條褲製作有幸邀請數位紀錄劇場專家來港參加研討會發表，將會是難得機會讓本地同業及觀眾汲取他們的見解心得。研習周當中亦會進行經典讀劇，以選段讀劇引介英美兩地的紀錄劇場發展，讓本地觀眾感受到其風格成就； 以及進行兩節大師班，兩位紀錄劇場大師Hans-Werner Kroesinger (德國) 及Greg Pierotti (美國)，分享他們獨樹一幟的理念和創作方式。研習周完結後，本團將以文字整理紀錄，並付梓成書 。
Pants Theatre Production will host one-week Documentary Theatre Week in July, the first of its kind in Hong Kong. It consists of play-reading, two three-hours master classes held by Mr Greg Pierotti (USA) and Mr Hans-Werner Kroesinger (Germany) respectively and a 2-days Documentary Theatre Conference. Overseas scholars and practitioners are invited to share their skills and knowledge with the local practitioners. The proceedings of the conference will be published afterwards.

兩位紀錄劇場大師Hans-Werner Kroesinger（德國）及Greg Pierotti（美國）各有獨樹一幟的理念及手法，本團榮幸邀得他們來港出席研討會，機會難逢，因此特別邀請他們分別主持一節三小時的大師班，分享他們獨特的創作方式。
Apart from the conference, it is our great pleasure to invite two masters in documentary theatre, Mr Greg Pierotti (USA) and Mr Hans-Werner Kroesinger (Germany), to hold two three-hours master classes respectively. They are pioneers in contemporary documentary theatre making. In the master classes, they will share their creative approaches with the participants.

Documentary Theatre in UK & USA: Play Reading of Masterpieces
紀錄劇場有異於一般以情境說故事的戲劇作品，往往與當時當地關係密切，所以本地鮮見搬演，本地觀眾因而較為陌生。本團將舉行兩場選段讀劇，由藝術總監胡海輝作導演及主持，聯同五位演讀員，選讀具代表性的劇本選段，介紹英美兩地的紀錄劇場發展，讓本地觀眾窺探其風格成就。
Documentary theatre is different from the plays which tell a story with a situation, but has a close relationship with the place at that moment, and therefore rarely performed on stage and unfamiliar to local audience. Hosted and directed by Mr. Hoi-fai Wu, the artistic director of our company, five actors will read selected masterpieces, in order to introduce the development of documentary theatre in US and UK through their different styles and achievements.

紀錄劇場在外地並非新鮮事物，在歐美兩地其實已經出現了一段時間，不少劇場工作者更專注這方面的創作，亦有學者專注研究這課題；一條褲製作榮幸邀得創作人Nicolas Kent、Hans-Werner Kroesinger、Greg Pierotti、Robin Soans；還有著名學者Carol Martin教授等多位專家來港參加研討會，發表見解，是難得機會讓本地同業及觀眾汲取他們的見解心得。除了本團專注紀錄劇場外，近年本地還有其他劇團或藝術家作相類探索，他們將與海外專家交流，反思紀錄劇場這種獨特的創作模式在本地發展的可能性。
Documentary theatre has developed for years in Europe and the States. Many scholars and practitioners study and work exclusively on this theatre form. Pants Theatre Production is honored to invite the following guests to this conference: Mr. Nicolas Kent (previous artistic director of Tricycle Theatre, UK), Mr. Hans-Werner Kroesinger (director of Stolpersteine Staatstheater, selected in 2016 Theatertreffen, Germany), Mr. Greg Pierotti (member of Tectonic Theatre, USA) and Mr. Robin Soans (playwright of Talking to Terrorists, UK), plus renowned scholar in this field Prof. Carol Martin (professor of NYU, author of Theatre of the Real, USA). It is a rare occasion, for local artists and audience, to have intense discussion and exploration on documentary theatre practice and theories. Apart from Pants, there are several local theatre groups and young artists having a similar try in documentary theatre, be it a production or community project. They will also be invited to a discussion panel, together with the overseas guests, to examine the ethical/practical/theoretical issues on documentary theatre, as well as the possibility of further development locally.

Documentary Theatre Showcase is one of the significant programme in Documentary Theatre Festival. Three new theatre groups cooperate with their dramaturgs, focus on the real characters and happenings in Hong Kong, and create their own documentary theatre belongs to this era.

《當紀錄變成劇場》為首部討論華文紀錄劇場實踐的出版；
第一部分為「香港實踐與華文劇場探索」，
探討本地、澳門、台灣和新加坡的紀錄劇場創作，
彼此觀照在主題、取材和形式上的異同；
第二部分為「紀錄劇場節：劇場展演與研討會紀錄」，
聚焦2017年「戲劇與社會：紀錄劇場節」，
記錄和評論三個展演作品的創作過程和成果，
以及本地和海外專家參與的研討會內容。
